No better feeling than the feeling of endless opportunities. And that is exactly how the start of a new season feels to me. I’m not one of the people who is desperately clinging to Summer by going out bare legged while the leaves are falling already. The opposite actually: as soon as the temperatures are slightly dropping and the it’s getting dark earlier every day, I’m the one stocking up on Fall basics. My ultimates faves! But before I do, I try to take a step back from my maniacal excitement and reassess what I already have and what I might want to add. In my case: all my bottoms have gotten too big (yay for working out 5 times a week!), so I might need some new ones. Also: My closet is filled with amazing big knits from last Winter, so I’m guessing I’m good for now when it comes to adding more knitwear (let’s pretend I didn’t buy an ah-ma-zing cashmere/wool mix sweater last week).

First off, I start with adding the ultimate Basic of Basics (yes, with a capital B): a good pair of mid wash jeans. Even though I’ve tried a lot of great brands when it comes to denim, I tend to fall back on my trusty old Levi’s. A slightly vintage-like, high waisted fit this time – this particular pair is called the Wedgie Icon Fit – in the perfect shade of blue. Couldn’t find the right size in store, but I did find them at Van Tilburg via A good pair of jeans needs nothing more than a classic pair of ankle boots (or sneakers, or heels for that matter), a basic tee and proper oversized blazer (which I will replace by a chunky coat as soon as it’s getting really cold).

Another Fall basic for me is a nice pair of smart trousers. It might not come as a surprise that I usually opt for black, but took the plunge and went for another neutral this time. The camel number is made out of 43% virgin wool, but is a little stretchy as well. Conclusion: I feel like wearing track pants, but than slightly more polished. Comfortably chiq. Just the way I like it. I like to dress these trousers down by adding a white sneakers, but could easily see myself wearing them slightly more fancy-pancy with heels and a nice blouse. Just like I said: endless opportunities.
