My love for sneakers is endless: whether it’s a pair of Air Max’s or a more basic pair of kicks (Air Force 1’s? Dunks? SB Blazers? Love them all!), I just can’t get enough. I feel most alive when rocking a good basic outfit and a pair of sneakers on a sunny day. Might have something to do with the sunny days as well, but I want to believe it’s the sneakers that brighten my mood. Besides that, I’ve always loved my classics. I’d be more than happy to walk around in a pair of crispy white Nike Air Force 1’s for the rest of my life. But with Air Max Day vast approaching (for those who don’t know: Nike celebrates the birth of Air on March 26th, because on that date – 30 years ago – the first Air Max shoe has been launched), my weapen of choice is another ultimate fave: a good pair of Nike Air Max’s. The first time Nike made their Air bubble visible: a true revolution in sneaker culture if you ask me. Throughout the month of March Nike launched several limited Air Max styles in very limited quantities, which made us sneaker heads want them even more, let’s be honest.. but unfortunately I wasn’t able to get the pair I really, REALLY wanted: the Atmos Elephant. I’ve been chasing this sneaker since it first launched in 2007, and I tried to get hold of a pair in 2017, but no luck. But hey: at least I ‘saved’ (that’s how I always fool myself) 150 euros, which I’ll be able to spend in New York next week, yay!

And let’s face it: I have no reason to complain. I collaboration with Nike I shot this modern take on the Air Max 90 Infrared’s: the Air Max 90 Flyknit. Even though I’m usually more into the OG’s, or at least a retro version of it, this modern take really seems to be such a nice Summery shoe: it’s very light weight, because of the Flyknit upper I’d wear it without socks (no socks = instant Summer feeling) and the bright dash of colour is something my wardrobe needs every now and then. What do you think?
