Sometimes it feels like I’m the only one in the world who hasn’t been to New York in her life. Okay, I’m slightly exaggerating here, but the general response I get when I tell people I’m going to the Big Apple for the first time says it all: disbelief. Honestly, I also can’t believe I didn’t take the chance earlier, because in theory this city has everything I’m looking for: lots of people. Lots of cultures. Lots of possibilities. Great.
Luckily, Lennart agreed it was about time we went to the other side of the ocean. Or even better: we made plans to book our tickets many times already but we don’t really know why we never took the plunge. Nothing specific happened, other than life. Life happened. And even when two of our friends moved to New York for two years, we still never hopped on that plane to pay them a visit. Until now. And we couldn’t be more excited. I spent half of my Sunday packing my suitcase (seriously, I’m very proud I ‘only’ took 16kg with me, usually my suitcase is maxed out! Let’s see if I can still say the same when I come back..). I got this Samsonite trolley case kindly gifted from Bagageonline.nl. Perfect timing!
By the time you’re reading this, we’re probably either on the airport, somewhere up the the skies or we set foot on American soil already. Nevertheless, I cannot wait to share our travel adventures (make sure to follow me on Instagram, @SFFTE). I’m even thinking about writing a sort of ‘New York for first-timers’ post when I’m back (with quick tips, nice hotspots and other must-visits from my perspective, so please let me know if you think that’s a good idea or not. I’m probably not really the only one in the world who’s never been there, am I? Oh and if you’ve been already, please let me know if you have any tips. I’m dying to get some advice.
