FASHIONCHICK SHOPPING DAYS

FASHIONCHICK SHOPPING DAYS

Hurray, it’s Monday! Which means a fresh new start of the week, new opportunities and.. a new outfit. Literally, because my entire outfit is new (except for the bag, that’s an oldie). To celebrate Fashionchick’s Shopping Days (on October 29th and 30th), I picked up […]

DENIM SHOPPING WITH DISCOUNT

DENIM SHOPPING WITH DISCOUNT

Denim. I just love denim. Levi’s is my go to brand when it comes to jeans, but I could really appreciate a higher end piece of denim or the usual Zara equivalent just as much. My ultimate favourite piece of garment. Ever. That is exactly why […]

POLKADOTS AND RUFFLES (!)

POLKADOTS AND RUFFLES (!)

I honestly cannot believe it’s mid October and we were still able to enjoy the sunny weather this weekend like Fall/Winter is not around the corner (today’s is pretty cold actually, but let’s not go into details too much ;)). These pics were taken a bit earlier though, but that doesn’t make them any less fun: it’s me, wearing polkadots (!) and ruffles (!), two things I usually tend to avoid.

In general, I’ve noticed that I’m gravitating towards slightly more feminine shapes lately. As much as I love my ripped jeans/chunky knits/bulky shoes combo, I’m no longer shying away from trying different silhouettes any longer. Which is nice, but also makes me question my current wardrobe more and more (we all know that ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’ feeling, right)? I’m usually pretty ok with my wardrobe and the choices I make: I’m completely fine with not being the most notable out of the bunch and love my understated colour palette. But I do think I’m ready to try something new (says the girl who just ordered 3 pairs of uber basics jeans: black, grey and dark blue, I kid you not: the were necessary, I promise). So I’m curious: what do you think I should add to update my wardrobe instantly, but stay true to my style anyway?

GETTING READY FOR FALL

GETTING READY FOR FALL

No better feeling than the feeling of endless opportunities. And that is exactly how the start of a new season feels to me. I’m not one of the people who is desperately clinging to Summer by going out bare legged while the leaves are falling […]

REMEMBER?

REMEMBER?

Remember that time we were pleasantly surprised by an Indian Summer when we least expected it? Me neither. So with this outfit, I’d like to take you back to sunnier, warmer days, before I start stocking up on chunky knits, tons of layers and oversized […]

EXCUSES DON’T GET YOU ANYWHERE

EXCUSES DON’T GET YOU ANYWHERE

Excuses. This is not going to be a piece about me never having excuses. I sure have them. Or I make them, actually. Because we all know that actually having an excuse doesn’t happen too often. They’re just holding you back.

I’ve found out that lots of people who asked me about my training schedule, are somehow interested in trying it too, but start making excuses before I even answered what their next step could possibly be. Just to give an example: when I start talking about how I incorporate 5 work-outs in one week, next to my fulltime job, blog and social life, they usual response is ‘Ah well, I can’t do it then, because I’m too busy for that’. Well let me tell you one thing: you’re not. I’m aware of the fact that this isn’t a very popular opinion, but I think you just don’t want it badly enough if you start making excuses before you even tried. But I’m also aware of the fact that it sometimes – or very often – takes discipline to actually do it. To not stay in bed longer, or to head straight to the couch after work. Of course, I don’t think this is easy all the time, but hey: eyes on the prize, right? In order to do so, I tend to look to where I’ve come from. What I’ve accomplished so far. To look back in order to move forward.

Some people believe that without history, our entire lives amount to nothing. This might sound a bit harsh, but I guess it is true: at some point we all have to choose: do we keep falling back on what we know, or do we step forward to something new from time to time? I’m fully aware of the fact that it’s hard not to be haunted by our past, especially when sometimes this past may feel darker than we want it to be, but truth is: our history is what shapes us. It’s what guides us. Our history resurfaces time after time after time. So we have to remember sometimes the most important history is the history we’re making today. Without excuses.

CHANGE IS GOOD

CHANGE IS GOOD

There’s something about empty, abandoned houses. To me they stand for change. They always give me this slightly eerie feeling, while on the other hand I love to see traces of people who lived their lives in their homes but now moved on to something […]

BACK TO BLACK PART 23857357

Back to (all) black. Not that I ever gave up on black, but I can proudly say that my latest looks haven’t necessarily been all black. Looks like I’m making progress here ;) I’m pretty sure with Fall being just around the corner I’ll probably […]
