My love for sneakers is endless: whether it’s a pair of Air Max’s or a more basic pair of kicks (Air Force 1’s? Dunks? SB Blazers? Love them all!), I just can’t get enough. I feel most alive when rocking a good basic outfit and […]
Double denim. Not sure if I’ve ever shown a double denim look on the blog, but I have to admit it’s a combination I wear pretty often. Mostly black and grey denim, but the blue double denim isn’t a combination I avoid, especially now that I’m more and more into blue denim in general. So easy to wear! Super cool with a plain black or white tee, but equally awesome with a slightly more dressy top. Great with heels, just as awesome with flats. Or sneakers, of course, like the ones I’m wearing in this outfit post. Honestly, I haven’t stopped wearing them from the moment I took them out of their box. Paired with the red details it also feels a bit patriotic to be honest, but this is certainly a look I feel totally at ease in.
Which made me wonder: I tend to describe my style as ‘comfortable’. But what does that really mean? Sweatpants are comfortable, but I’m not wearing them outside my home (ok I admit: sometimes I do when grocery shopping, but I promise I wear fancy ones ;)). Heels hurt my feet like hell, but I can still feel comfortable in them when I’m wearing them in the right setting. Just because I know they look awesome. So what defines whether a piece of clothing or an entire outfit is ‘comfortable’ or not? I think I’ve found my definition of comfy dressing: to wear something that doesn’t make me feel self-conscious all the time. This can either mean that I’m dressed for the occasion or that I don’t have to adjust my top all the time. This can mean I just absolutely LOVE all the items I’m wearing and they make me feel like I look awesome also, or this can mean an outfit that allows me to do my daily activities in without feeling my clothes.
Have you ever thought of this? How would you describe you own style?
Ask my mom: I’ve always had a weak spot for bulky shoes. A family wedding? Sneakers. My first-day-of-school outfit? Big ass military boots for little-me. Leather boots, lace-up Docs or sneakers: they have always been my thing. I’d dare to say that I kinda lost myself in these comfortable types of shoes, but the greatest thing is: I found myself there too. Elegance has never been my middle name, totally fine with that. On the other hand: I don’t think the amount of femininity you have is solely being carried out by the choice of your shoes, do you?
Anyway, I’ve been asked a lot of questions about my sneaker collection, which I’ve already given a glimpse of on THRLD , so I thought it’d be nice to show you guys my current top five. I say current, because a lot of my faves can change very quickly, while on the other hand I always tend to stick to my classics: my pearly white Air Force 1’s will stay in the selection forever. Actually my whole top five only contains a few different kinds of Nike’s. Always Nike? Yup, fan pur sang. Which one is your fave?
1. Nike Air Max 2015 / 2. Nike Lunar Force 1 / 3. Nike Air Huarache Light Bone / 4. Nike Air Force 1 Black Leather / 5. Nike Air Force 1 White
