NO MORE

NO MORE

Yup, it has been a while since I updated the blog. To be fair: I don’t think I ever took a blogging break this long since I started blogging in 2008 and to be even more fair: I can’t say I feel sorry for it. […]

A TASTE OF DOUBLE DENIM

A TASTE OF DOUBLE DENIM

It’s a funny thing: taste. Taste in food. Taste in interior. In people. In art. In friends. But also: in style. If you would have told me a year ago that I’d be wearing a light blue double denim ensemble, without any black (those shades […]

THAT STORMY SUNDAY

THAT STORMY SUNDAY

If there is one car that gets me – not the biggest car enthusiast out there – excited, it’s this one. Volkswagen kindly enough let me test drive this beautiful Beetle Cabrio Denim edition (told you! Has my name written all over it!) for a few days and even though driving with an open top wasn’t really an option during this windy and wet weekend, we enjoyed this awesome car and all its luxury to the fullest by driving to Antwerp for the weekend and celebrated this stormy weekend with my love (who is an absolute car-freak, so no complaints by the Instagram-husband on this one ;)).

GETTING READY FOR FALL

GETTING READY FOR FALL

No better feeling than the feeling of endless opportunities. And that is exactly how the start of a new season feels to me. I’m not one of the people who is desperately clinging to Summer by going out bare legged while the leaves are falling […]

DOUBLE DENIM

DOUBLE DENIM

Double denim. Not sure if I’ve ever shown a double denim look on the blog, but I have to admit it’s a combination I wear pretty often. Mostly black and grey denim, but the blue double denim isn’t a combination I avoid, especially now that […]

PERFECT WARDROBE COMING TO LIFE

PERFECT WARDROBE COMING TO LIFE

Now that I’m taking this entire month to reorganise and rethink my wardrobe (read all about that here), I find myself focusing on basics even more than I already did. I’m using this month to find out what are my absolute go-to pieces, items I can wear over and over again without getting bored and items that might be added or replaced. By the end of the month I hope to be having a clear vision on what I’d like to add that isn’t necessarily considered ‘basic’ but maybe even more of a statement piece you might say. Or, if I find out wearing basics over and over again is just my thing, I might not even ‘need’ a statement piece anymore. We’ll see.

When creating the perfect basic wardrobe I keep a few simple principles in mind:

1. Functionality
The time that I wanted to be that girl that could go shopping an entire day on high heels (yes, I dreamed of being able to do that) is gone. Period. Remember that chick that always carries a pair of sneakers with her as soon as she’s wearing heels and always replaces her heels by sneaker somewhere halfway the evening? That’s me now. Or to be honest: I don’t even bother anymore and opt for flats anyway. What I’m trying to say: I’m choosing comfort and functionality over va-va-voom. I’m super happy with the broad range of amazing options out there (I mean.. sneakers, loafers, boots.. they all make me happy!). Same applies for clothes: no tight, uncomfortable, pinching, itching items in my wardrobe anymore.

2. Quality.
I’d rather have a few amazing items that are great quality, than having tons of cheap-ass, bad quality pieces: obviously because they last longer, and therefore are better for the environment, but also because they just look better. Also: I’m not rich enough to wear disposable pieces.

3. Personality.
Let’s not mistake basic by boring. I don’t consider basic outfits boring at all, put it’s all in the little details for me: I’m almost always wearing the same ring and necklace, so that adds a personal touch to every outfit I wear. Also, I think even basics can tell a lot about your personality, or about how you pick your items: I’m not wearing basics because I’m lazy, I think picking the right basics can be even more challenging than spicing up an outfit with so-called statement pieces. I’ll publish an article soon about the favourite basics in my wardrobe, so keep an eye on the blog if you’re interested :)

4. Versatility.
This may sound weird coming from someone who seems to wear the same items over and over again (actually I take pride in doing that, thinking about writing an article about too, let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in), and has a closet full of stuff that seems to go with pretty much every other item in there, but when shopping for basics I still keep in mind that I want my newly purchased items to be versatile. I create at least three outfits in my head that I can pair the possible new item with.

INSTADIARY

INSTADIARY

Ph. me/iphone   Let’s start this week with a diary of what I’ve been up te lately. As you can see I met Viktor & Rolf at their 20 year anniversary, I met Candy Dulfer at her gorgeous house (walk-in closet, anyone?), found this supersweet […]
